Kanna, a versatile stimulant
Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is used by the Hottentots in South Africa as a euphoric stimulant. Kanna was traditionally chewed, with the saliva swallowed. African Bushmen also smoked or sniffed the herb, sometimes in combination with other herbs.
Kanna can give a good feeling with a reduction of anxiety and an increase of inner peace. The energy can also be increased and you feel socially stimulated. Sometimes the libido can also be stimulated. Kanna contains several active substances, which contribute to both the medicinal effect and the psychedelic effects that users can experience with the herb.
This 10x extract is 10 times stronger than the dried leaves of Sceletium tortuosum.
Kanna can be smoked, sniffed or drunk. Start slow.
Tea is a commonly used form, where a dose of 200-300 mg is sufficient. You can also chew it with a piece of gum. For sniffing, we recommend the powder form. This extract can also be sniffed, but it is more difficult to dose because you really only need a little of it.
The active ingredients of Sceletium tortuosum are mesembrine, mesembrenone, mesembrenol and tortuosamine. Mesembrine, the main alkaloid, is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).
Do not combine Kanna with other SSRIs (Seroxat, Prozac) or MAO inhibitors, such as certain anti-depressants. Read more here. Do not participate in traffic or operate machinery until after 16 hours after taking it.
